First mid 2025. This is the scheduled date for the first phase of the first charging center for heavy electric vehicles in Spain that promote Daimler Truck, Traton Group and Volvo Group through their joint venture Milencefounded in July 2022 as an independent company with initial financing of €500 million.
The construction of this charging center has already begun in the Zaragoza Logistics Platformalthough the plans are to develop it in two phases. In this way, in the first, the charging center will be equipped with four high-performance Combined Charging System chargers (CCS), with capacity for up to four stations.
For its part, the second phase includes additional charging stations, in addition to including Megawatt Charging System chargers (MCS).
The center will also have the latest charging technology and will feature Milence’s characteristic arches and canopies. It will also have on-site facilities such as bathrooms and showers so that users can have an optimal rest during recharging, the company indicates.
With this charging center, Spain will become Milence’s eighth marketwhich has set the goal of create the largest public charging network for this type of heavy electric vehicles in Europe in which Zaragoza has a prominent role as it is a logistics hub on the European continent and has a connection with two main TEN-T corridors. This is the case of the Mediterranean corridor, from Algeciras to Slovenia and Hungary, and the Atlantic corridor, from Portugal to the border with France. In addition, the city is also close to the A2 and Zaragoza airport.
The Zaragoza recharging center is part of Milence’s strategy of betting on road transport free of fossil fuels, for which it is undertaking a reliable recharging network for battery electric trucks and busesregardless of the brand they have.
The forecast is to have 1,700 charging points of high performance throughout Europe by 2027. For now, it has already opened in several key locations and continues its expansion with an initial focus on 15 markets.
