The Government of Zaragoza plans to award this Friday to Iberdrola the new electricity supply contractlow and high voltage, from municipal facilities for an amount of 84.5 million euros (VAT included) for the period 2025-2027.
This contract, awarded through public tender, will mean a savings of 18.5 million of euros to the city, according to figures provided by the Zaragoza City Council.
The new contract presents a series of advantages such as greater security in the budget for the supply of electricity and in payment, given that all energy supplied will come from renewable energy sources -it is obligatory by contract and its non-compliance may lead to its termination-, with a fixed pricewhich can be reviewed every year and downwards.
Besides, The invoices will be for monthly consumption and not daily as was previously done and it is impossible for them to be automatically incorporated into the invoice late payment interest in the payment of supplies without prior knowledge of the Zaragoza City Council.
It is also established that the winning company annually undertakes a study on electrical power to be contracted in each tariff period that is most appropriate for each supply point according to consumer demand, explains the Urban Planning Minister of the Zaragoza City Council, Víctor Serrano. Likewise, there will be two optimization studies of the reactivated energy consumed and the hourly load curves.
