The ukrainian Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, Occupied by Russian troops and the target of recent bombing, it was disconnected from the national electricity grid on Thursday, reported the operator of Ukraine’s nuclear plants, Energoatom.
“The two reactors in operation at the plant were disconnected from the network. Consequently, the actions of the invader led to the total disconnection [de la central de Zaporiyia] from the power grid for the first time in its history,” Energoatom said on Telegram.

According to the operator, the fires in the area of the thermal power plant that supplies electricity to nuclear reactors led to the disconnection of the last power line that connected to the Ukrainian network.
“The other three lines were previously damaged in terrorist attacks” by Russia, Energoatom added.
The Zaporizhia nuclear plant, the largest in Europe, has been under Russian occupation since the beginning of March. In recent weeks, Moscow and kyiv have accused each other of bombing this plant in the south of the country, which has six reactors with a total capacity of 6,000 megawatts.

Ukraine also accuses Russia of storing heavy weapons at the plant and using it as a base to bombard Ukrainian positions.
Moscow denies having deployed weapons at the plant and assures that it only installed units to guarantee the security of the place. Russia in turn accuses the Ukrainian forces of having bombed the complex with drones. The UN has called for the demilitarization of the
central to ensure security and allow an inspection of the place.
Precisely, the news of Energoatom comes shortly after, from Paris, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, explained that there is an agreement in principle with Ukraine and Russia for his agency to carry out an on-site inspection “in the next few days”.
“There is an agreement in principle and we are working on the details. The hypothesis of an inspection is imminent,” Grossi said in an interview with France 24, after a meeting in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron.
