Alex Zanardi’s recovery is proceeding positively. The Emilian rider, involved in a terrible accident with his handbike in June 2020 during the Obiettivo Tricolore event, completed the first cycle of treatments at the Ravenna hyperbaric center.
The news was announced by Corriere di Romagna who contacted the medical director of the center, Dr. Pasquale Longobardi, who expressed cautious optimism about Zanardi’s conditions.
“I can say that Alessandro is certainly a person with an immense charge: he passed it on to me. He came here with a great desire to work. It was a busy month for us but above all for him, in the end he understandably wanted to go home “.
Throughout the month of January, Alex underwent physiotherapy in a hyperbaric chamber, a procedure that lasted from four to five hours a day which entails greater efficiency than standard physiotherapy.
Dr. Longobardi always explained the particularities of the therapy: “It is a more efficient medical procedure than normal physiotherapy. The patient is stimulated with a mixture of oxygen and helium while doing the exercises ”.
“Everything was studied by Dr. Claudio Costa who immediately followed Alex. In total, Zanardi was followed by a dozen specialists, the best way to obtain results ”.
