Moscow will respond to the comments of American diplomats on uncoordinated actions in Russia, we will investigate. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on Sunday, January 24, on the air of the TV channel “Russia 1”…
“We will definitely answer this,” the diplomat said.
She recalled that on the eve of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that American diplomats “will have to explain themselves to the Foreign Office for the behavior of the US Embassy in Moscow and for the statements that were made through the State Department.”
“But we will continue to figure it out, because this is only the tip of the iceberg – what was published by the official structures of the United States and those comments that were given by the foreign ministries of various Western countries,” Zakharova said.
The day before, Zakharova said that on Friday, January 22, the US Embassy in Moscow published maps of illegal marches that were planned for January 23. According to her, information was thrown in about a certain “campaign against the Kremlin,” which even the organizers of the uncoordinated action did not declare about.
Zakharova stressed that American diplomats will have to explain themselves at the Russian Foreign Ministry because of these publications.
On the same day, Moscow accused the US embassy of interfering in Russia’s internal affairs and encouraging domestic protests.
The Kremlin considered the publications of the American diplomatic mission to be indirect interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation and support for violation of the law. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that if Moscow also wrote about the unrest in the United States, which “continues there,” it “would cause a certain sense of discomfort in Washington.”
On January 23, uncoordinated actions took place in different cities of Russia. Several dozen people were detained in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is known that there are children among the detainees. Previously, the authorities have repeatedly reminded that the involvement of minors in riots is punishable by law.
According to the Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, on the Pushkin Square of the capital at an unauthorized event attended about 4 thousand people, among them were children.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the involvement of minors in illegal actions on the facts of calls for participation in protest actions.
The capital’s Main Investigation Department of the TFR opened criminal cases of violence against government officials, damage to property and hooliganism.
