NATO is simultaneously accusing Russia of “aggressive behavior” and conducting military exercises in Estonia. This statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on Sunday, November 21.
According to her, the American embassy in the republic reported on the joint exercises of the Estonian Defense Forces and the Special Operations Forces of the US Army.
“In the war games of the Pentagon, this country (Estonia – Ed.) Is nothing more than a NATO bridgehead on our borders. These measures, aimed at developing interaction and “pairing” of the armed forces, do not and cannot carry any other goals, “Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.
She claims that the conduct of such exercises “confirms NATO’s intention to artificially create tensions near Russia.”
“And now I would like to know to what extent NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg considers such actions to be transparent, predictable and non-aggressive? If, from his point of view, everything is fine, then what complaints can there be about the internal Russian maneuvers that constantly cause him anxiety? ” – summed up the diplomat.
On November 21, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Grebenkin said that a significant increase in NATO activity is fraught with threats of armed conflicts and incidents on the Russian border.
On the same day, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that NATO should stop provocative activities near the Russian borders in order to find a way out of the current tense situation in relations between Russia and the West. He added that under the guise of the alliance’s exercises in the Black Sea, Ukraine is most likely seeking another attempt to start a military solution to its internal problem.
On October 21, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer called on the North Atlantic Alliance to show Russia its readiness to use weapons if necessary. According to her, Russia allegedly constantly violates the airspace of the Baltic states and in the Black Sea.
