Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia’s proposal to supply gas through the undamaged Nord Stream 2 pipeline confirms Russia’s innocence in the gas pipeline explosions. This is stated in a message published in her Telegramchannel on October 5th.
Earlier Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak told reporters that Russia is ready to supply gas through the undamaged SP-2 line if the necessary decisions are made by European colleagues regarding certification and restrictions at the facility.
“And after that, someone will dare to say that our country is behind the sabotage? I understand that realizing the truth can be very difficult. But someday the EU countries will have to do this and admit that they were betrayed by the allies,” Zakharova said.
The day before, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Danish authorities are taking a “nasty” and “illegal” position on the issue of explosions on the gas pipeline. She recalled that Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod had announced his country’s refusal to participate in the investigation.
A day earlier, on October 3, Zakharova also pointed to an open statement by the United States about the motives for destroying the JV, which took place at a joint press conference of Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
A gas leak was discovered on September 26 at once on two Russian export gas pipelines – Nord Stream and Nord Stream – 2. Bjorn Lund, a representative of the Seismic Center of Sweden, said that two powerful underwater explosions were registered that day in the area of leaks in pipelines.
Later, on September 29, the Swedish Coast Guard discovered the fourth gas leak, and on October 4 reported that they were continuing.
