YUberjen Martínez He is one of the most important boxers in Colombia and is currently waiting to secure his place for the next Olympic Games in Paris. Meanwhile, he made a public complaint.
THE boxer is getting ready to participate in the qualifier that will take place in Thailand to be able to seal his place in Paris.
Before that, Yuberjen gave statements in which he assured that the Ministry of Sports He stopped giving him financial support 8 months ago.
“I had several problems with the technical part and with the Ministry of Sports, because they suspended my financial support for eight months, through no fault of my own. It was just because,” said the boxer in a conversation with VBar on Caracol Radio.
Yuberjen has a hypothesis of what could have happened and referred to differences with coach Rafael Iznaga.
“Now we have the right to be professionals and at the same time fight as an amateur. The teacher Rafael Iznaga He was filled with envy and rage. He sent a letter to the Ministry saying that I did not belong to amateur boxing, even knowing that I had spoken with him and told him that I was ready to represent Colombia. At no time did I refuse a competition in the Olympic cycle. We had our differences and they decided to remove me from the program, despite being the one that has given Colombia the most results in results. If they do that to me, imagine those who are just starting out,” he said.
He clarified that he currently does receive said monetary sum, but that of those eight months of suspension was lost.
“When I started my professional career, Minister (María Isabel) Urrutia told me that she would give me all her support,” she said, but in October 2022 she learned that her financial benefit had been withdrawn.
“I am receiving today, but it was 8 months that I lost. For now, that talk is lost. I have tried to speak with the president of the Olympic committee Let's see what can be recovered, but they have told me that it has been very difficult. We are seeing if we can do it with the Ambassadors program. I'm practically working as an ambassador to see if I get some of that money back,” she said.
Yuberjen's future is to secure his place in the Olympics, in the world championship in Thailand that will be held from May 26 to June 2.
