After nearly 24 hours of issues, YouTube confirms that channels and features have been restored, while some videos are still being recovered.
YouTube confirmed it has fixed it a bug that had caused thousands of accounts to be accidentally removedincluding users with paid subscriptions like YouTube Premium, YouTube TV, and YouTube Music. The issue, which began to emerge on Thursday afternoon, has seen numerous users report losing access to their accounts and content, including videos and playlists.
A problem that extends to different types of accounts
The bug not only affected content creators, but also other usersincluding those who pay to access YouTube’s services. The platform confirmed the issue in a support thread, assuring that teams were working to restore the removed channels and subscriptions. However, for almost 24 hours, YouTube could only offer reassurances, while users asked for clarification and concrete solutions.
In addition to accounts and channels, YouTube also explained that the bug affected playlistswhich in some cases were not restored immediately. Furthermore, many users have complained that the videos, including those with the most viewshave not been reinstated, despite the channels being back online.
Restoration of missing contents
On Friday afternoon, YouTube updated its support thread confirming that all channels mistakenly removed under the “Spam & Deceptive Practices” rationale have been fully restored. However, the platform admitted that not all removed videos have been recovered and that the work to replenish the missing contents is still ongoing.
Some users have expressed concern, especially over the loss of videos with high view counts, suggesting that while the majority of affected users were not content creators, for some accounts this situation still caused significant disruption. It remains unclear whether paying subscribers will be refunded for lost access to content during the bug period.
