It is no secret that advertising is a necessary element for platforms like YouTube to survive. However, the number and frequency of ads is not to the liking of many users. In this way, software focused on blocking this content has become very popular, although this could change, since Google has implemented a series of changes to prevent these types of programs from working on Youtube.
Through a new statement, Google has revealed that they have made a series of changes to the YouTube API, which causes users who use ad blockers to experience buffering issues. Similarly, certain videos will be blocked completely when this type of software is detected.
YouTube has indicated that ad blockers violate its terms and prevent creators from monetizing their content, so it has implemented measures that limit their use. This is not something new. For years now, Google has tried to combat this softwareand it seems that they have finally found an effective way to prevent someone from skipping the advertising.
Fortunately, Google has indicated that it will not block all third-party apps, only those that do not respect the YouTube API terms of service to skip ads. Let's remember that this not only affects the company, but without advertising, content creators receive less pay.
Now, if you want to avoid ads completely, Google offers the option of contracting YouTube Premium, a subscription service that not only eliminates ads, but also allows you to watch videos outside the application, and gives us access to YouTube Music. However, there is no big incentive to get this service, other than not seeing more ads.
We remind you that Measures against ad blockers on YouTube are already underway. On related topics, YouTube Premium in Mexico increases in price. Likewise, TikTok seeks to be more like this platform.
Author's Note:
I used YouTube Premium for a month, and not seeing ads in video games was extremely special. However, the subscription price is not equivalent. Don't use YouTube Music, and watching videos outside of the app is something you barely touch. If there was an option to not see ads and pay less, then this service would most likely be more popular.
