After a long wait, YouTube already has HDR support on Microsoft’s Xbox consoles. This HDR support works on both the last generation consoles, Xbox One S and Xbox One X, as well as the recently arrived Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. From now on, as long as we have a television or monitor capable of display HDR videos, the Youtube app will automatically switch the content output to HDR.
The YouTube app on Xbox has never supported HDR before, even though HDR has been available on PlayStation 4 since 2019. Both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launched in November without YouTube HDR support, and is not yet available on the PS5, which means that Microsoft’s console has been ahead of Sony’s, unlike the previous time.
