What was supposed to be a fun trip ended in tragedy: a teenager had to be rescued from the water in Mallorca after falling unconscious.
Alcúdia – A tragic incident occurred between parents and children splashing around in a water park on Mallorca last Monday (September 16): rescue workers fought for the life of a young holidaymaker (15) in the well-known “Hidropark” in the north of the Spanish island, as the portal Balearic Chronicle reported, citing the local emergency call center.
Slide accident on Mallorca: Teenager (15) in critical condition
According to the report, the Briton hit his head while sliding at around 4 p.m. When he reached the bottom of the pool, he fell to the bottom unconscious. Lifeguards rushed to help and pulled the 15-year-old out of the water. When paramedics arrived, they found no signs of life and immediately began resuscitation. This was successful and the young man regained a pulse. However, he was still unconscious.
Given the critical situation, the Guardia Civil triggered the “green alert”. This is a special measure in which the police regulate traffic at important intersections so that in such cases the patient can be transported as quickly as possible. For this reason, police officers accompanied the ambulance on motorcycles.
The young holidaymaker’s condition improved at the Son Espases University Hospital in Palma. Despite everything, his life is still in danger, it is said.
Circumstances of accident in water park still unclear – investigations initiated
It is still unclear why the teenager hit his head on the slide at Hidropark. Appropriate investigations have been launched.
Tragic accidents have been piling up on the island recently: a baby drowned in a pool in Mallorca because its grandmother was distracted for a moment. A man also drowned in the water during a boat trip and died.
