Angelo Marsiglia, the coach of the Colombian women’s national team, announced this Tuesday the list of 23 players who will be in the two friendly matches against Venezuela in Barquisimeto, in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The first match will be on Thursday, May 30, starting at 6 pm Colombia time. They will meet again on Tuesday, June 4, at 4 pm Both games will be at the Metropolitano de Lara stadium.
For the first time since the World Cup, the coach will bring together Linda Caicedo and Mayra Ramírez, who did not share the call for reasons of injury or adaptation to their new club, in the case of the Chelsea forward.
Since then there has been the shadow of a veto against the current Atlético Nacional player, who also led a protest over the payment of prizes when Atlético Huila was crowned champion of the Copa Libertadores in 2018.
A month ago, a photograph circulated on social networks in which Yoreli appeared hugging the vice president of the Colombian Football Federation, Álvaro González Alzate, which seemed to open the door to the team for her again.
However, Yoreli did not appear on the Federation’s list and, on her social networks, she expressed her pain. “She’s over! I don’t fight her anymore. She’s definitely not for me,” Yoreli wrote on her X account.
Yoreli debuted with the Colombian women’s national team in 2010 and is the team’s second all-time scorer, with 13 goals. She was in the 2011 and 2015 World Cups and the 2012 London Olympics.
This year she has had an extraordinary campaign with Atlético Nacional, which is leader and undefeated in the Women’s League. She has four goals and three assists in nine games.
