The leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, assured during this Thursday afternoon that the now former spokesperson for the party in Congress, Íñigo Errejón, has submitted his resignation following internal investigation that the party made due to accusations of sexist violence.
“This week, Sumar has started a process to gather information about the testimonies that emerged on networks about Íñigo Errejón. As a result of the process, today he leaves all his positions,” Yolanda Díaz stated on her social networks.
Hours before, Sumar had released a statement in which he stated that after learning of the accusations he had started a research processalthough did not clarify so forcefully, as Díaz has done, that the resignation had occurred due to these investigations.
However, the formation’s statement refers to “statements that had been made,” without specifying that these were complaints of sexist violence and limiting itself to Sumar’s “commitment” to “build a feminist society and politics.”
Yolanda Díaz, for her part, talks about the “testimonies that emerged on networks” and of a “firm and without exceptions” commitment against “machismo” and a “feminist society.”
