Yellow zone, risks in Sicily, Sardinia and Lazio
The increase in Covid infections leads three regions to risk the yellow zone after August 15th. According to Corriere della Sera, it is Sicily which has a percentage of hospitalized in the medical area at 8% and in intensive care at 4.7%. Warning also for Sardinia which has 4.4% of the posts occupied in the wards and 4.2% in intensive care. The numbers of Lazio are also under observation (respectively 4% and 3.7%). At the moment the critical threshold is far away, the contagion travels fast.
Green pass on trains and planes? The political control room next Tuesday
On the Green Pass front, there are new features. According to reports from Corsera, “Next Tuesday it will be the political control room – after having consulted the experts of the technical-scientific committee – that will have to establish when to impose the” green pass “for long-distance transport”. Last week Draghi assured Salvini that the decisions will be made in agreement after examining the data. “The executive’s orientation was to impose the obligation as early as August 6 in order to avoid – as happened at the end of the summer of 2020 – that the epidemiological curve would rise when Italians returned from holidays, especially from abroad quickly – explains Corriere della Sera – Salvini is against it, also because – he explained – the obligation of the “green pass” from the beginning of August risks discouraging those who have yet to plan their holidays or cause cancellations by those who have already booked, thus damaging tourism, which instead shows signs of recovery, and everything was therefore postponed precisely to analyze the data on the new infections, but also those relating to vaccines.
