Year in prison for preparing attack on plumber's home in Vlaardingen

The Rotterdam court sentenced Radley C. to twelve months in prison on Thursday, three of which were conditional, for planning a fireworks attack at the house of a plumber from Vlaardingen. This was reported by the ANP news agency on Thursday. The home, business premises and the plumber's car have been the target of explosions more than ten times since April last year. It is not known why the plumber keeps being attacked.

C. was discovered on the night of December 23 together with a 30-year-old co-suspect by officers in a car near the plumber's home. When the car was checked, a mortar bomb, a balaclava and gloves were found.

24-year-old Radley C. stated in court that he knew nothing about the attack, he said that he just had to take someone to Vlaardingen. He also knew nothing about the bomb that was in the car. The judge ruled that C. did know that something was going on. The 30-year-old co-suspect with whom he was in the car will appear in court at a later date.

Area ban

The plumber was banned from working in part of the municipality of Vlaardingen a month ago. The mayor did this for safety reasons. The chance of a new attack would be smaller if the plumber was not physically present. That is safer for the residents of the neighborhood.

At the beginning of this month, 27-year-old Viangelo N. was sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in causing an explosion at the house. He also had to pay damages of 26,000 euros. In the past two weeks, three more suspects aged 14 to 16 were arrested in the case.
