Quartararo like Binder and Bagnaia
Francesco Bagnaia, Brad Binder, Johann Zarco, Luca Marini and Fermin Aldeguer until this morning were the five riders certain of which bike they would ride in MotoGP in 2025 – respectively Ducati, KTM, Honda, Honda and Ducati – a list which has been added Fabio Quartararowhich renewed the contract that binds him to Yamaha until 2026. No Aprilia therefore for El Diablo, who has decided not to betray the M1, the bike on which he debuted in MotoGP in 2019 and on which he became champion of the world in 2021.
The pilot born in 1999 He still has a long career ahead and has decided to trust the new Yamaha course at least until the end of the current technical regulations (they will debut in 2027 and at the basis there will be a reduction in the aerodynamics and displacement of the engines) and awaits the first fruits of the great purchase by the company of Iwata, namely Massimo Bartolini, a figure very close to Luigi Dall'Igna in Ducati who arrived in Yamaha from Borgo Panigale at the end of 2023. Furthermore, remaining in Yamaha, Quartararo will remain the highest paid rider on the starting grid since from this year the very rich contract stipulated by Marc Marquez with Honda until 2024 and interrupted a year early is no longer valid. Francesco Bagnaia renewed with Ducati as a two-time world champion with a fee between 6 and 7 million euros, Quartararo's 'old' two-year contract was close to seven zeros and the one signed until 2026 certainly does not show a reduction in salary in the light of poor performance for more than a year on the part of the M1.
Quartararo seemed destined forAprilia, which was the refuge of Maverick Vinales when the latter turbulently separated from Yamaha in mid-2021, going from a salary of 8 to 2 million euros. The Noale house therefore remains an opportunity for those who want a change of scenery. Both Vinales and Espargarò are out of contract and Aleix could also decide not to continue his career in MotoGP. Aprilia also has direct contracts with customer team riders Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, so in the event of Espagarò's stoppage the official team could 'fish' from the customer team to complete a line-up which will most likely be led by Viñales. Pedro Acosta is destined for the factory KTM alongside Brad Binder in place of Jack Miller whose contract expires at the end of this season. The question marks that remain on the market after this 'Quartaro-Yamaha Diablo Pact' are if there will be a brave man who will bet on the rebirth of Honda in 2025 – a sports bet accompanied, however, by a nabob's contract on whether a top rider will say yes to the house of the golden wing – and who will be Francesco Bagnaia's teammate in the official Ducati team. Jorge Martin played the ultimatum card to finally convince Ducati to dress him in red (i.e. either promotion or escape elsewhere) and in the meantime he is leader of the World Championship. The other candidates are the current owner of that saddle, Enea Bastianini, and the loose cannon Marc Marquez, who arrived in Ducati and is free at the end of the year to go anywhere, but also Dall'Igna's 'weak point' who faced the operation Gresini has decided to welcome the most successful rider on the current grid to the Borgo Panigale platoon.
