In search of the sun
As well as with European manufacturers – Ducati, Aprilia and KTM – Yamaha’s challenge to return to the top of MotoGP also seems to be against the weather. In fact, the Japanese manufacturer seems to be haunted by rain in the latest tests that it tried to carry out to finally improve the performance of one M1 which continues to not be sufficiently competitive for the ambitions of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins.
In Valencia to improve
A week after the official tests at Mugello – open to all teams and rendered almost useless by the deluge that hit the Tuscan track – the Iwata house is in fact returned to the track this week at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia with a new private test – permitted by the concessions – organized on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th June. In reality, on his social channels, Rins explained what the team wanted shooting already in the late afternoon of Monday 10th but the rain ruined the plans, only allowing space for a few rounds of ‘settling in’.
Meregalli’s ‘plan’
Fortunately, today the weather conditions were more lenient, but the risk is that a good part of tomorrow could also be wasted due to rainfall, expected especially towards the afternoon. The team director Maio Meregalliwho confirmed the absence from these tests of the official test driver, the convalescent Cal Crutchlow, who had already expressed at Mugello the intention to work on the corner entry and braking of the M1. Jupiter Pluvius permitting, of course.
