The popular presenter Xuxa Meneghel questioned the right to criminal defense and “gratification” of DJ Ivis, the artist arrested for violently assaulting his wife in front of his son Pamella Holland.
In an Instagram post on Thursday the 15th, he asked if the DJ’s lawyers have daughters or sisters and if “there is justification for so much cowardice”, still referring to the existence of a defense.
In his post, which he accompanies with the photo of DJ Ivi and a phrase in large type with the inscription “!He’s in jail!”, Xuxa wrote that “there are many people who have done nothing or very little and are rotting in jail,” while Ivis has access to “privileges” such as defense and criminal care. “If it has benefits, they will never stop assaulting women”.
As reported by the newspaper Or Povo, from Fortaleza, Xuxa noticed the imprisonment of people who “did nothing or very little” while investigating the issue after being repudiated for expressing their support for the idea of testing vaccines and medicines on convicted people. After the criticism he received, he ended up apologizing for his proposal.
Xuxa received comments after the publication where he questioned the possibility that DJ Ivis had defense attorneys. One person noted that criminal defense is a right of every human being. Xuxa replied that “they should not accept it” and questioned whether “Even a monster” should have this right. Another user asked about Ivis staying in prison “with our justice failing”. The presenter added that “if we do not charge something more”, in addition to imprisoning the DJ, “it will be just that and it will gain more followers.”

In prison and waiting
Ivis Araújo was arrested in the late afternoon of Wednesday 14, three days after the release of the videos in which he appears attacking his ex-wife, Pamella Holland.
The moment was captured by the security cameras of the house that the young woman and the musician have in Fortaleza, capital of the State of Ceará, northeast of Brazil. Iverson hit the Netherlands repeatedly, even when she was transiting the coronavirus and had her baby in her arms.
DJ Ivis tried to justify himself by saying that he had been enraged when he saw that he was breastfeeding his daughter and could make her sick with coronavirus. He also said that he did it because the woman told him that he was going to commit suicide and he could no longer bear the blackmail
The musician is investigated for the crime of bodily injury. Images were released the previous weekend showing one of the attacks suffered by the architect. Initially, the Police reported that they did not make the arrest in flagrante delicto because the police report (BO) of the case was registered by the victim only two days after the attacks.
Despite proven attacks, Ivis has gained a following on social media. Since the launch of the support videos, he has earned more than 220,000 followers on Instagram. In just one hour, it went from 729,000 to 780,000. Now it already has 965,000 followers, 216,000 more than before the release of the images in which he appears beating his wife.
