“The insult is the last resort of those who have run out of arguments, because they feel defeated.” Benito Juarez.
Once again, the candidate of the PRI-PAN-PRD coalition, Xochitl Galvezhas resorted to tricks questionable in the presidential debates. Not happy with transgress repeatedly the agreed rules for the debate, nor with the abuse and nicknames directed to Claudiahas decided to go a step further by using religion as a tool to discredit to the leading candidate in the polls, Claudia Sheinbaumand thus obtain political will in an unethical and manipulative way.
I think Xochitl Galvez He didn’t know how to take advantage of the opportunity. She wasted the possibility of concluding the three debates in a different way, without resorting to slander or insults, and instead, being proactive as she did. Claudia one more time. It is known that the proposals are the central axis of the debates and what interests the electorate the most. Whoever manages to bring them to fruition will be the one who emerges victorious. Citizens look for someone capable of solving their problems in a society more inclined to receive than to give, although that is a separate topic. Today, the scenario is presented as follows: people want solutions to their difficulties, not insults or defamation. Xochitl He has lost his last chance.
And so he showed it Claudia in this third debate by not succumbing to the provocations of his opponent, especially when the candidate of the PRIANafter breaking the rules in the second debate and being reprimanded three times by the moderators, continued insulting Claudia calling her a candidate of lies. However, it was shameful that she defamed the candidate of Brunettefalsely accusing her of having ordered the destruction of a church in Tlalpan, denied by the work team of Claudia Sheinbaum.
However, what caught my attention the most was using religion to deal a low blow by asking Claudia why she carried an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe on her skirt, accusing her of political opportunism when, in reality, Xochitl He acted with political demagoguery in a political-electoral debate and in a Secular State that has cost our country so much blood to consolidate.
In my opinion, Claudia He acted wisely by not succumbing to such vile provocations. Regardless of the religious belief we profess, we all have the right to express ourselves and use symbols that we consider important, such as the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe on clothing, which is rather a national symbol of Mexican identity and spirituality that transcends all religions. I believe that religious fanaticism has had a negative impact on our society. Xóchitl personifies this extremism by questioning Claudia about making use of the figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe, when in reality all of us, without distinction, have the freedom to do so if we wish. However, this problem is aggravated by entering into a debate whose purpose is the exchange of ideas, the presentation of proposals and the evaluation of candidates based on a national project that reflects the collective vision that we aspire to. In this context, religion should not play a relevant role in the discussion of ideas.
In conclusion, the third debate served as the ideal epilogue to contrast and define the two divergent projects represented by the candidates, mainly through their proposals. Hate, defamation and the factious use of religion to launch base attacks never contribute positively to a debate. On this occasion, citizens had the opportunity to get even closer to the truth, identifying the candidate who really presents solid proposals, clear ideas and acts with respect, addressing the needs of citizens with a constructive approach towards a Nation project. .
