Morelia, Michoacán.- The Ministry of Culture of Michoacán, through the Clavijero Cultural Center (CCC), presents this February 11, “Xirangua”, a documentary financed from the first prize of the 15th International Conference DBMC 2020which will be screened at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of said cultural venue.
Directed and produced by Adrián Sánchez with a script by José Daniel Machorro and Sánchez himself, “Xirangua” is based on the roots that should not be lost to maintain the identity, as well as the traditional architecture and construction of the state of Michoacán.
The film project had the purpose of documenting, study and safeguard the architectural heritage of Michoacán and its local materials. To this end, it was supported, drafted and carried out by an interdisciplinary group of bachelor’s, specialty, master’s and doctoral students from the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) and the Jefferson International University, together with the Michoacán audiovisual production company Palm Studio, and the photographer from Morelia Adrián Solís.
“Xirangua”, which means roots in p’urhépechawas nourished by interviews with different actors: local population, construction craftsmen, academics and experts, has a duration of 43 minutes 45 seconds, is presented in Spanish and P’urhépecha and was recorded in 15 municipalities of the entity: Ario de Rosales, Charapan, Cuitzeo del Porvenir, Erongarícuaro, Bucerías Lighthouse, Ihuatzio, Maruata, Morelia, Pichátaro, San Andrés Coapa, Santa Clara del Cobre, Santa Cruz de Morelos, San Joaquín Jaripeo, San Nicolás Obispo, Pátzcuaro.

During the screening of “Xirangua”, the audience is invited to follow the corresponding health protocols for the care of everyone in the face of the health situation by Covid-19.
