The pigmentosa xerodermia (XP) is a very rare disorder that is transmitted from parents to children. The XP causes the skin and tissue that cover the eye to be very sensitive to ultraviolet light and sometimes generates problems in the nervous system. It is caused by a malfunction of the resources that the body has to repair damaged DNA and is especially given in children born of consanguineous marriages.
