Artificial intelligence, for better or worse, is increasingly used in different aspects of the video game industry. Now, it has been revealed that Microsoft plans to implement a chatbotwhich helps communication between users and the support service Xbox.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is already working to implement artificial intelligence to create a chatbot to offer support, such as game refunds, console issues, and any Game Pass-related issues. This system is described as an animated “embodied AI character.” This is what Haiyan Zhang, general manager of game AI at Xbox, commented on the matter:
“The prototype makes it easier and faster for gamers to get help with support issues using natural language, pulling information from existing Xbox support pages.”
However, this is only one of the plans that Microsoft has with Xbox. Along with the help chat, The company seeks to include artificial intelligence in game development, game operations and the Xbox platform itself. According to The Verge, Microsoft is experimenting with AI-generated art and assets for its titles, testing AI games, and AI generative NPCs. Likewise, the company is considering building AI-powered co-pilots for security and moderation tasks, including content moderation on Xbox, and AI-powered assistants to offer help in the interactive experiences they have for us.
We just have to see what will happen with this aspect in the future.. On related topics, Xbox would be working on two consoles. Likewise, another Xbox exclusive would come to PlayStation.
Editor's Note:
While the implementation of artificial intelligence in support chat is interesting, creating games using elements of AI is questionable. However, as has happened on multiple occasions, these attempts are unlikely to achieve anything significant.
