Today we can take a new look at the GUI that will be released next year for the Xbox Series X | S, thanks to the video of Tom Warren of The Verge. The interface shows what you can expect to see when starting the console. The top section of the home hasn’t changed much, although the six most recent games and applications now have the same size icon, while the most recently used one is highlighted in the current aversion.
In the next section, you will find shortcuts for games and apps, the Store and Achievements, as well as a couple of banner ads. According to Warren, the most important change takes place in the lower section of the home, with an entire portion dedicated to the games recently added to the Game Pass, which according to Warren himself “is an advertising space for the Xbox Game Pass to show the catalog”.
Under this section you will find your favorite apps and games, unfortunately it does not seem possible to move this section higher or lower.
Finally, you can find free games or more popular games on the Game Pass. According to Warren, “this splash screen really looks like a giant Xbox Game Pass ad, and I don’t like it at all.”
Obviously this is just a preview and a lot of things could change between now and next year, however it really looks like Microsoft wants to push its subscription service even further.
What do you think of this new interface? You like it? Let us know in the comments.
