After his dismissal as coach of FC Barcelona was announced yesterday, Xavi Hernández has offered his first words:
In them, the Egarense coach has avoided going into details about his settlement, but he wanted to emphasize that what he said back in the day is important: “I’ve responded to this before and I always keep my word.”
Xavi has shown respect for the president’s decision: “I respect the president’s decision to fire me, it is he who decides. I will always be a Barcelona fan and I will support the club.”
However, the Camp Nou door is not closed for Xavi: “I would love to return to Barça one day. Barcelona is the club of my life, I have always said that.”
Making clear his intention to return to being a Barça coach in the future, Xavi added: “I do not close the doors to Barça and the possibility of returning to the club one day.”
Finally, the coach thanked the support and acknowledged the difficulty of the last few days: “Thank you, I’m fine. Of course, they were difficult days, not easy days. But hey, I am here with a clear mind and I would like to say that I am proud of the two and a half years as a coach. It was not easy.”
