X-Men '97 It has become one of the most acclaimed Disney+ productions in history. Although a second and third season of the animated series are already in production, The idea of a film of this property has not been completely ruled out.something that directors and fans want to see become a reality.
In a recent interview with Inverse, Chase Conley, Emi Yonemura, and Jake Castorena, the directors of X-Men '97, They expressed their desire to work on an animated film in this series. This is what Conley commented on the matter:
“First of all, it would be a success. I think that would absolutely be something that the audience would want to see and that we would want to be a part of.”
For his part, Yonemura added:
“Akira. Ghost in the Shell. Those levels. It's like, 'Hey, do you want to give us the money and the budget to do that for you?' But for X-Men '97? Gladly”.
Unfortunately, at the moment this is just a dream. However, nothing rules out the possibility of this happening after the third season of X-Men '97which is already in development. The only drawback here would be Marvel. Let us remember that the MCU has great weight in cinema, and it is likely that the company does not want to confuse the public with an X-Men movie before or after the mutants arrive in the cinematic universe.
We can only wait to see what the plans are for the X-Men on the big screen. On related topics, X-Men '97 breaks records on Disney+. Likewise, this would be the villain for the X-Men cinematic reboot.
Author's Note:
The idea of an Akira-style X-Men movie is something that sounds too good to be true. Considering Disney and Marvel's business on the big screen, this idea will likely never see the light of day. However, I hope I am wrong and in the future go to the cinema to enjoy the end of X-Men '97.
