Among the surprises of the Xbox Games Showcase there was also Wuchang: Fallen Feathersa title from the Chinese team Leenzee Games arriving in 2025 on PC and Xbox (the only platforms announced so far, barring further clarifications), shown with a presentation trailer and expected on day one on Game Pass.
It is an interesting action RPG that seems to reflect the style of the souls-likeconsidering the insistence on fighting and the presence, even in the short trailer, of enemies who seem decidedly large, combative and challenging.
The peculiar feature is its Chinese-style setting, which the developers should be particularly knowledgeable about, considering its origin.
Ornitropic magic in Ming Dynasty China
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is set during the Ming dynasty in ancient Chinaeven if the fantastic influences inserted into the game are evident.
Protagonist of history she is a fighter called Bai, with special skills.
Bai indeed has a arm covered in featherswhich seems to awaken special powers in her through a type of magic linked to birds, something that is barely mentioned in the new trailer, which is mainly introductory and narrative in nature.
The description of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers talks about a “challenging combat experience with different categories of weapons and the use of Ornithropic magic”, which therefore seems to have to do with birds. In the game we find ourselves exploring “interconnected” environments, which could recall almost metroidvania elements.
To get to know it better, we refer you to the 18-minute gameplay video that had already emerged a few years ago, although the title was still in a very preliminary phase at the time.
