Yann Ehrlacher dominated Race 2 of the FIA WTCR in Adria taking another step forward in winning his second world title.
Starting very well from the Pole Position, the reigning Cyan Racing Champion gave no way to anyone being able to attack his Lynk & Co 03, running away and leaving behind the very hard battles that developed over the 7 laps.
The first of these took place right from the start, when Néstor Girolami’s Honda Civic Type R came into contact with Yvan Muller’s Lynk & Co.
The two continued side by side up to turn 4, when the French from Cyan Racing overpowered the Argentine from ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport; the collision caused the latter to go off the track, which on returning also took against Jean-Karl Vernay and Tom Coronel, causing damage to the Hyundai Elantra N and Audi RS 3 LMS of these two, which returned to the pits.
This allowed not only Ehrlacher to take off, but also the Audi RS 3 LMS of Comtoyou Racing driven by Frédéric Vervisch and Gilles Magnus to consolidate the second and third position until the finish, with the younger of the two being Champion in the WTCR Trophy linked to individuals.
Emotions to no end instead in the duel for fourth place. Muller manages to defend him from an extraordinary Gabriele Tarquini, who from 12th place on the grid recovered with the usual “Boar” grit he is, overtaking his opponents with an incredible pace at the wheel of the Hyundai Elantra N of the BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Racing Team.
Seventh place for the other Honda of JAS Motorsport developed by ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport for Esteban Guerrieri, who follows the Hyundai of Norbert Michelisz (BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse) and the Lynk & Co of Thed Björk (Cyan Performance).
Luca Engstler was also gritty in his team’s Hyundai, overtaking Rob Huff’s Cupra Leon Competición (Zengő Motorsport) with a good door in the duel for ninth and tenth place.
The Englishman precedes his teammate Mikel Azcona, who scores points with Attila Tassi’s Honda (ALL-INKL.DE Münnich Motorsport), Santiago Urrutia’s Lynk & Co (Cyan Performance), Nathanaël Berthon’s Audi ( Comtoyou DHL Team) and Tiago Monteiro’s Honda (ALL-INKL.DE Münnich Motorsport).
The Cupra of Bence Boldizs and Jordi Gené (Zengő Motorsport Drivers’ Academy) remain dry again, finishing ahead of Nicola Baldan’s Hyundai (Target Competition).
In the championship standings, Ehrlacher is on 200 points, with Vervisch second at -35 and Guerrieri at -36. Further away Urrutia, Vernay and Muller.
