“Razgatlioglu has a kind of talent never seen before in the history of motorsport”. Scott Redding since he arrived in Superbike he has been able to cross paths with Toprak Razgatlioglu, a tightrope walker of Yamaha who is two rounds from breaking Jonathan Rea’s hegemony in the derivatives of the series. The Turkish is 24 points ahead of the Northern Irishman on the eve of the El Villicum stage in Argentina, the penultimate one scheduled this season before the grand finale in Mandalika in Indonesia from 19 to 21 November.
Redding found himself on several occasions having to deal with the wild talent of Razgatlioglu, who under braking often manages to make a difference against his opponents. Sometimes, however, there was no lack of controversy between the Ducati rider and the Yamaha rider, guilty according to the former MotoGP of having exaggerated on some occasions as happened for example in Most in the Czech Republic or in Portimao in Race-1. The braking dives of Kenan Sofuoglu’s protégé oblige the opponents to foresee the impossible: “We are used to the fact that the rear wheel loses contact with the ground for a few meters. With Toprak the rear wheel stays in the air longer than it is on the ground“, added jokingly Redding interviewed by Motorsport-Total.com.
According to Redding Toprak forced Rea to change driving style to try to resist the fury of the Turk this season: “Jonathan had to adapt his technique. He is also very talented. He can do things with the bike that not all riders can do. But he has to change his style. It’s difficult for the older riders, but Jonathan is winning this challenge with himself ”.
