Another solo by Toprak Razgatlioglu in the Superbike Superpole Race at Donington. The Yamaha rider, like yesterday, took the lead already at the first braking of the Renegade and this time he didn’t even have to resort to forced braking to contain a Jonathan Rea who has never been able to worry the reigning world champion.
Without a duel for the first two positions, the scene took over Scott Redding, truly heroic riding a BMW in a runaway horse version tamed by the former Ducati rider. Redding started third position and then in the final he responded blow by blow to the lunges of Alex Lowes, who in the last lap also had to collect Alvaro Bautista’s winning attack on the esse Fogarty with a very deep braking. Sixth position for Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who today will try to redeem the opaque test offered yesterday.
In championship Rea gnaws other points from Bautista reaching -13 a few hours from Race-2, Razgatlioglu instead is at -48 and will go hunting for the en plein to really get back in the race for the defense of the throne won last season. In the Superpole Race the only rider who didn’t make it to the finish was reigning BSB champion Tarran MacKenzie, who misjudged the distance from Xavi Vierge to the Goddard hairpin by hitting the Honda rider’s rear wheel.
