A few hours before the start of the Swedish Rally, the second round of the 2024 WRC, important news arrives regarding the Central European Rally.
The penultimate event of the World Championship, which was held for the first time in history a few months ago and won by Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe, has been brought forward. It will always remain the penultimate event of the season, but it will no longer be held in November, but in October.
Initially the Central European Rally was scheduled for the All Saints weekend, therefore from 31 October to 3 November, but for organizational reasons it was brought forward by 2 weeks, to the weekend from 17 to 20 October.
In October the WRC had no rallies planned, while it had 2 rallies in November. Now, with this change, it will have a race in October while in November there will only be the Japan Rally, which will conclude the season.
The 2024 edition of the Central European Rally will start in the Czech Republic, Prague, then move to Germany and end in Austria.
“For organizational reasons, the Central European Rally will not take place on the originally planned All Saints' Day weekend,” read a press release from the event.
“Since the Dreilanderhalle in Passau, used as a service park last year, was already booked for other events on the new dates, the organization team of the Central European Rally had to look for an alternative location that had sufficiently large areas.”
“In Bad Griesbach they found what they were looking for: the service park will set up camp on the site of one of the largest Bavarian trade fairs in the district of Karpfham, where until 2017 the ADAC 3-Städte-Rallye took place as part of the German Rally Championship (DRM”).
“After very constructive discussions with politicians and fair organizers, we are pleased that we were able to find this solution for 2024.”
