Toyota is Champion of World Builders In the World Rally WRC, conquer the title on the iconic circuit of Monza, winning the Championship with a shotgun in the final round, while Sébastien Ogier And Julien Ingrassia they won the eighth World Championship between pilots and co-pilots.
Ogier and Ingrassia clashed with their teammates Elfyn Evans And Scott Martin in the final showdown in Monza and the two crews engaged in a battle for victory throughout the weekend, exchanging command between them six times.
WRC Monza Rally 2021 Toyota Champion
Toyota Champion at the end of the Monza Rally. The final stage of the WRC also involved the province of Bergamo where Toyota drivers put on a show. Ogier, the new world champion, arrived on the last day of three difficult stages around Monza separated by just half a second and then set identical times in the opening test of the morning.
A problem for Evans in the penultimate stage in the end he decided the victory of the rally in favor of Ogier, who knew that a podium that would have been enough to secure the title.
The victory in the Monza Rally was there fifth of the season for Ogier and Ingrassia after the victories a Montecarlo, Croatia, Sardinia and Kenya. It was their 54th WRC win together in what was the last race in the WRC, with Ogier only competing in a few races for the Toyota Gazoo Racing team in 2022 in 2022.
Evans and Martin secured their fifth Toyota double of the season and they arrivedsecond in the league for the second consecutive year after the victories in Portugal And Finland.
Together with their teammates, Kalle Rovanperä and his co-pilot Jonne Halttunen were the key to success in the constructors’ championship after taking their first career victories in Estonia And Greece this year.
At Monza Toyota won the constructors’ championship for the fifth time, placing it third on the list of all-time titles, and the second since returning to sport in 2017 with the Yaris WRC.
Monza was also the car’s 26th and last victory in the WRC, before being replaced in 2022 by the Rally car1 hybrid propulsion.
