Wout Van Aert has been one of the great figures of cycling during the 2021 season. A year in which Van Aert has dazzled both on the road and on the mud on the cyclocross with a total of 21 victories and an overall classification to add to his record.
Before competing in the first cyclo-cross test of the year in Baal, Van Aert published a curious balance with the most outstanding figures of his 2021 season. “I’ve spent half of the last day of 2021 calculating these helpful stats. But I forgot to post them, so here’s one last look back before we jump into action in 2022.”
Among these statistics Van Aert also highlights several of the most unknown data that all cyclists face each season. “Nights away from home: 205 (56%). Nights above 2,000 meters altitude: 72. Flights: 18. Trips of less than 50 kilometers: 7. Countries visited: 10. Anti-doping controls: 47”.
In terms of competition, Van Aert also collects the days he has competed, the achievements he has made and the days and kilometers he has used in training and then succeeding on the road and in the mud. “Days of competition: 62 (49 on the road, 13 on cyclo-cross). Victories: 21 (+1 general classification). Championships: 7. Medals: 5. Hours training: 996. Kilometers training: 31,064”. Some very outstanding figures that Van Aert hopes to turn into successes again in 2022.
