Nairobi, Kenya.- The Oldest primary school student in the world, Priscilla Sitieni, dies at 99 after having returned to the classroom five years ago, a local media announced.
The Kenyan woman’s grandson, Sammy Chepsiror, told The Standard newspaper that Priscilla He died at his home on Wednesday after developing a chest complication.
“He was in good health and he continued his classes until three days before his death, until he had chest pain that forced him to drop out of school,” said the grandson of the woman known as Gogo Priscilla.
“We were very proud of her,” added his grandson.
Priscilla Sitieni returned to the school at the age of 94, after convincing the principal of the village primary school in the Rift Valley to accept it in the classroom, according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), which He described the woman as a “model”.
Priscilla said in an interview with the institution, that her goal was to encourage young mothers to return to school.
“I wanted to be an example not only (for Kenyans) but also for women around the world“, he pointed.
