Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, warned of the possibility of an increase in the number of deaths due to the emerging corona virus in the coming weeks, due to the new strains of the virus that have recently appeared and are currently being researched to determine their ability to spread and cause deaths.
Ghebreyesus said, during a press conference held this evening, Wednesday, at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva, that the number of HIV infections has doubled around the world in the past weeks.
The Director-General of the organization urged all countries and their health systems to prepare by strengthening their response, as well as continuing to conduct tests and vaccination for vulnerable groups, especially those with chronic diseases, the elderly and health workers.
He warned that health centers and hospitals in many countries of the world are not sufficiently prepared.
