Nicola Bartolini’s gold is the first in the history of blue gymnastics in the free body specialty. In the history of the specialty, Sardinian Gymnastics, registered with the Pro Patria Bustese, have updated the Italian medal table that had remained at the bronze medal of Franco Menichelli in 1966 in Dortmund. Also by Menichelli the first medal for the free body, in 1962 in Prague, always bronze. In today’s competition the blue was the oldest athlete with 25 years while the youngest, the South Korean Ryu Sung-hyun with 19. In the last 30 years the medal table of the World Championships in the free body specialty has been quite global with medaled athletes not only from Europe and Asia but also from America and Brazil.
