Qatar.- The world of soccer has been globalized for a long time due to different situations, one of which has been the need to migrate to other countries to seek better opportunities. That is what has happened with 3 players of African origin that by having to move from their country, they are now days away from debuting in a World Cup with the team of Australia.
The names of these footballers are Thomas Deng, Awer Mabil Y garang kuol who were born in refugee camps in Australian territory. The three parents from South Sudan looked for a new opportunity in the country of Oceania to become someone in life and that is how they found football in their lives which, although they are still short, have already given them their first great joy, which is be in the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
Since they found out about their situation, they have tried to excel in their disciplines to seek to be the reference image for many other players or people who can find the possibility of a better quality of life elsewhere. Awer Mabil in a recent interview highlighted that the 3 recognize everything their fathers had to do to give them new opportunities that now that they are defending Australia they will seek to give everything for them.
“We understand the sacrifices our families have made and we have very similar stories, probably that’s why we are always close to each other. It’s good that we talk and answer questions so Australia can learn about our stories and learn about our culture and who we are,” the 27-year-old said.
For Thomas Deng, being now in a World Cup sets them as an example to follow for others, “They see us as role models. We are happy to be in this position, to give them a path and to show them that their dreams are possible as long as you work hard for them.”
