The Sun: A woman was diagnosed with late-stage cancer after injuring her toe
Sharon Daly, 55, was diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer after injuring her toe. History told edition of The Sun.
Before holidaying in Tenerife with her family, Daley stubbed her toe. She did not immediately seek medical help, but went on vacation. Throughout her vacation, she suffered from pain and hobbled on one leg, and only upon returning home did she go to the doctors.
During the examination, the woman reported that she had shortness of breath, and the doctor did a blood test. The results were so unsatisfactory that the patient was prescribed additional examination, as a result of which doctors discovered that she had stage 4 stomach cancer. At first, specialists planned to perform an operation, but later it became clear that it would not be possible to remove the tumor. Doctors’ forecasts were disappointing: without chemotherapy, Daly would have lived no more than six months, and with it – about a year.
And only after that the woman realized that she had previously ignored the symptoms of a deadly disease.
I felt very nauseous and my stomach hurt a little, but I didn’t pay attention to it. I attributed the fatigue to a mental state. I had no serious health problems. I had regular mammograms to rule out breast cancer, and I have bowel screenings, but I haven’t checked my stomach.
After the diagnosis, the British woman admitted that she would spend as much time as possible with loved ones, especially with her beloved niece. Also, an avid traveler, she wants to cross a couple of items off her bucket list. “I used to dream of visiting India, but now I can’t do it. However, I really hope to go to Portofino and spend the night on the Orient Express,” Daly admitted.
