Mother with alleged mental problem murdered her baby in Guayaquil

The event occurred on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Guayaquil, in the south of the city.

The incident occurred in Ecuador. The minor died in hospital after the attack.

The Ecuadorian police authorities are carrying out investigations to clarify the death of a two-month-old baby who, according to the Police version, he was attacked with a knife in his abdomen.

Álex Ganchala, a police officer from the Esteros District and who intervened in the emergency, pointed out that the alleged perpetrator of the crime would be the mother of the baby, in facts that have not yet been fully clarified.

“Because of the hole that he had made, the mother had been removing the intestine (…) that the devil had to be taken out of the children in that way,” Ganchala told the Ecuavisa newscast.

The violent event would have occurred last Thursday in Guayaquil, southwestern Ecuador. The baby’s mother was arrested at the scene.

The uniformed officer explained that the woman is 25 years old and a judicial process was opened against her for the case. The Police also reported, according to testimonies from the baby’s grandmother, that the detained woman suffered from some hearing impairment and suffered from a mental health problem not specified.

The baby died in a care center.
