The 81-year-old filmmaker suffered from pancreatic cancer
German director Wolfgang Petersen has died at the age of 81 at his home in Los Angeles, United States, as reported by Deadline magazine.
The creator of films such as ‘The Perfect Storm’, ‘The Neverending Story’ or ‘Troy’, died last Friday, August 12 due to pancreatic cancer, although the news of his death has emerged this Tuesday.
The well-known director rose to the top with the film ‘The Submarine’ in 1981, which was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Director. In 2000 he published ‘The Perfect Storm’, a feature film starring George Clooney.
Four years later ‘Troy’ came to light, with Brad Pitt in the role of Achilles. Among his other internationally recognized films are ‘Poseidon’ and ‘Air Force One’.
