Born March 14, 1941 in Germany, it is died last Friday the well-known director Wolfgan Petersen. After a battle with pancreatic cancer, the movie icon died at his home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, cared for by his wife Maria-Antoinette Borgel.
Petersen had started his first short films as early as in high school, in the 1950s, and from 1960 to 1964 he had managed to enter the industry as an assistant director for Hamburg’s Junges Theater. After expanding his directing and writing studies, he then threw himself into the world of TV series and then finally into the cinema, where he was noticed by the Bavarian film companies and churned out one of his most important films of him: U-Boot 96.
After that his career took off. Hollywood entrusted him with i more complex films to shoot, and he never failed to finish a project. Petersen was the director of many well-known films, including The Neverending Story, Troy, Air Force One and others. He comes fondly remembered by his colleaguesespecially by the actors who had the pleasure of working with him, important names such as Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and many others.
In addition to his wife, the director leaves behind a son and two grandchildren. The family decided to celebrate the funeral in private.
