The FPS genre wouldn’t be where it is today without the input from id Software from a long time ago. While many consider Doom to be one of the most influential first-person shooters ever, it was one of the studio’s previous games, Wolfenstein 3Dwhich helped set things in motion during the dawn of the genre.
Yesterday, the classic title has accomplished 30 years and both id Software and Bethesda celebrated this milestone through their Twitter profiles. “Wolfenstein 3D turns 30 today! Extra points for those who can correctly answer the Game Trivia on the back face of our character spotlight card, without using the keywords we have provided“reads Bethesda’s tweet.
“Happy anniversary to Wolfenstein. Thanks to the millions of players and all the amazing developers who have contributed to this three-decade legacy“wrote id Software instead.

Wolfenstein himself, is one of the longest-running video game franchises around, with a total of 13 games to its credit. We currently do not know if there is a new chapter in the series in the pipeline. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is the latest game released.
