Witnesses claim that the accused who started the attack on Samuel said: “I’m going to stab him in the heart.”

Witnesses who were in the area where Samuel Luiz was beaten to death in the early hours of July 3, 2021, stated in the trial that they heard screams and saw the victim and a person heading towards him – one of them He says without a shirt. Two of them stated that they heard him say: “I’m going to stab him in the heart, because I have nothing to lose.” Not all witnesses identified this person, but one of them did point out Diego MM, the accused who allegedly initiated the attack that night on the seafront in A Coruña.

One of the people who testified this Wednesday at the trial claims that, when Samuel collapsed, at the end of the attack, they continued hitting him although he could not specify who was doing it. He did state that they also attacked the two Senegalese who tried to defend him, Europa Press reports.

After the first attack, one of the witnesses stated that he saw several people “running” in the direction of another of the points where the attack continued. “More than six, I would say, reach it,” he stated. He also corroborated, when questioned by the prosecutor, that he saw a group of people throwing kicks and punches and then leaving. But he stated that he could not identify any of them. Regarding Catherine SB, she indicated that she saw a girl who looked like her who “tried to stop a boy without a shirt.”

On the other hand, he stated that he placed the victim face up. “He was choking on his blood, I put him on his side and a man arrived who said he was a doctor and I left him with him.” He also reported that he saw Samuel Luiz’s friend trying to help him, in line with another witness who stated that she asked them for help. “That they were harassing him for being gay,” he added about what this told them. Regarding the facts, he identified Diego MM as the person he saw beating and explained that he heard a girl say: “Come on, the police are going to come.” He could not specify, however, who it was. Regarding Samuel’s situation, he said he was “full of blood.”
