Brasília (DF) completes this Wednesday (18.Sep.2024) 148 days without rain, surpassing the mark recorded in 2004. The current period of drought in the federal capital is the longest in the last 6 decades and is second only to that recorded in 1963, when the city went 163 days without rain.
According to the Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), there is no forecast of rainfall in the federal capital this week. Brasilia is under yellow alert because of low humidity and possible gales.
The Brasília National Park, known as Parque da Água Mineral, has been hit by a forest fire since Sunday (15.set). The vice-governor of the DF (Federal District), Celina Lion (PP), told journalists on Tuesday (17.Sep) that the fire had been controlled.
Despite being contained, there are still outbreaks being monitored by the CBM-DF (Military Fire Department of the Federal District).

The fire in the Brasília National Park is consuming an area of environmental protection. According to ICMBio (Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation), the fires have already reached 2,000 hectares.
Known as Água Mineral, the national park is a conservation unit linked to ICMBio, an agency linked to the Ministry of the Environment. According to the entity, the forest fire was criminal.
