“Guardian angel, sweet company, do not forsake me night or day.” This is how one of my prayers began when I was little. She was adding a list of people she wanted my angel to take care of too. As they told me, angels exist and they are soldiers who protect us from the day we are born.
I grew up in a Catholic school, therefore it is a topic that comes up among classmates, where they take the opportunity to tell their experiences with their respective angels and how they had helped them in dangerous circumstances.
Especially when you are a child, the powerful imagination helps us to give meaning to events that we do not understand. Already as an adult we can choose to seek more rational explanations, but even so, there are situations that we do not find logical.
A few days ago, at my work we waited for the arrival of a small group of people who were interested in learning about the project we are developing on Isla de la Piedra. One of them had been described to me as a very perfectionist and demanding person, for whom we had to prepare a detailed agenda so that it could be organized with his time.
When we met him he turned out to be a totally different person, he is a relaxed and flexible being with many lived experiences and not-so-short anecdotes that he shared with us. In just one afternoon he made me reflect, cry and laugh. He is one of the people you would like to continue listening to because of the way he tells his stories and from whom you know there is a lot to learn. It took time.
But while listening to their stories I understood that there are extraordinary beings, with internal demons that torment them but with wings so big to shelter people in need, even if they are complete strangers. That although he is a very successful person today, it was not always like that, that you learn from mistakes and that good deeds are rewarded.
Although in the movies they put us as winged beings, many times they don’t look like that. Sometimes they are mere mortals who appear only once in our lives, but their selfless actions are of great help. The cyclist who received help when his tire went flat on an avenue where he did not look good; the student who believed in her again because her teacher saw her potential; the patient who received her treatment because a group of people cooperated in a breakfast.
There will be those who intend to do good deeds, to help others for various reasons and seek elaborate plans to achieve their goals, but with simple daily actions we can benefit someone, even without realizing it.

Doing good deeds is satisfying, it opens doors for us, a chain reaction is generated even though we cannot perceive it. As the saying goes: “Do good without looking at whom”.
