Leica introduces its new iPhone app, a professional camera app that brings the iconic Leica look to the Apple smartphone.
Leica LUX allows you to create unique Leica Looks like those of a professional photographer but using an iPhone. Now you can experiment with popular Leica lenses without having to physically hold a camera in your hands.
In it Opening ModeiPhone photographers can take photos with the characteristic signatures of a range of classic Leica lenses, including the Leica Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH and the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH.
Thanks to Leica’s own image processing engine, based on machine learning and assisted photography, these lens simulations reproduce the unmistakable look these lenses are known for, including, of course, the characteristic bokeh effect. This means that an iPhone now has the opportunity to emulate photos with the unique aesthetics of the legendary Leica M lenses.
Leica LUX allows you to take professional photos using an iPhone
Leica LUX uses Leica color science to offer a selection of color gradations and film presets that emulate those of Leica cameras. This includes options like Leica Classic, Leica Contemporary and Leica Black and White.
When using the Leica Standard Look, Leica LUX’s proprietary image processing already displays colors and contrast differently and more naturally than the iPhone’s native camera app.
Thanks to this application, the iPhone camera becomes a powerful artistic expression, allowing for rich textures and impressive nuances.
The app is offered as Freemium: the free version of Leica LUX includes access to automatic photography mode and aperture mode, including emulation of the Leica Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH. and five Leica Looks.
While the LUX Pro version, priced at $6.99 per month, also allows access to manual control of exposure, focus and white balance; as well as the full current range of 11 Leica Looks and five Leica lenses.
