The winemaker Giovanni Ferrari, who runs the ArteViva winery in Monte Belo do Sul (RS), is naturally restless. A pioneer in using Jequitibá Rosa barrels to age his wines of great personality, he now presents new labels created from unprecedented blends, in addition to the sparkling Nature (no added sugar) made with Riesling grapes and a quiet Pinot Noir, both with grapes harvested in Garibaldi vineyards. They are high quality wines that deserve to be known by those who value careful production, on a human scale and small runs. Even more so when wines are offered at a special discount. In partnership with the blog Degustando Vinhos, ArteViva offers, until January 31, 15% discount on selected products. Just go to the site and enter the coupon that appears at the end of this post. Before, let’s understand each label better.
For Ferrari, making a cut (or blend) is always something magical, as it allows the author’s personality to be expressed through the percentages of each chosen grape. “Knowledge about the olfactory and taste characteristics of each variety that makes up the blend is crucial for its harmony and complexity”, said the winemaker. This can be seen in two wines he has just launched: Blend Synonyms and Blend Synonyms Singular Tannat, both from the 2021 vintage.
First, five varieties were chosen: Merlot, Tannat, Cabernet Franc, Alicante Bouchet and Marselan. After aging for six months in French and American oak barrels, in order to obtain perfect harmony between the components of the cut, two wines with different characteristics were defined. As its name suggests, one of them highlights the uniqueness of the Tannat cultivar, which represents an exact 37.36% of the composition. “When tasted together, they become didactic and report back to the winemaker’s daily life, in other words, the experience of perceiving the characteristics that the Tannat cultivar adds to a cut”, stated Ferrari. According to him, this experience is perfect to share among friends, “stimulating the construction of knowledge and living in the present moment”. In the exclusive promotion for those who follow the blog, the two labels sell for R$79.56 each, against R$93.60 for the regular price on the site.
The discounts are also valid for the sparkling Nature of the Elementar Line (from R$ 130.00 to R$ 110.50) and to the Elementar Pinot Noir (from R$ 180.00 to R$ 153.00). Fermented at low temperature, the sparkling wine, whose foaming took place in the bottle, remained in contact with the yeasts for nine months before disgorging. At 12% alcohol, it has just 1.6 grams of sugar per liter. Floral notes of chamomile, ripe yellow fruit, vanilla and white chocolate stand out in the aroma. Pinot Noir is practically the product of barrels. Maceration, for 48 hours, was in Slovenian oak, followed by full fermentation for seven days. The liquid was transferred to French barrels for second and third use, where it remained for nine months. Delivers aromas of coffee, menthol and red wild fruits. It is succulent and with good volume in the mouth.
The labels can be purchased on the website www.vinicolaarteviva.com.br/loja-virtual. To obtain the discount, use the DEGUSTANDOVINHOS coupon.
