In a few months we will finally be able to enter the room to see Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third installment of Sony’s “Home” series of Spider-Man (in collaboration with Marvel Cinematic Universe) and a film that also aims to be a sort of conclusion to the “Spider-Man trilogy” composed by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and the most recent Tom Holland.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor who in the future will also play the role of Nathan Drake, told how for all the cast and staff this No Way Home was a sort of last film dedicated to Spider-Man. We obviously do not know if this film will definitively end its adventures among the skyscrapers of New York (and beyond), but the atmosphere, according to Holland, was just that.
Tom Holland he told how, especially given certain scenes (which even made the actors excited), the next times we see our beloved characters on the big screen could be different from usual:
I think if we’re lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’ll see them in a very different version. They will no longer be part of the Homecoming trilogy. We will take our time and build something different and with different tones. I don’t know if it will happen or not. But we’re treating No Way Home like it’s the last movie, and it kind of felt like that.
Obviously the actor speaks without having the complete vision that maybe the managers of Sony and Kevin Feige they already have: certainly what it seems is that after Spider-Man: No Way Home all the characters will find themselves with a decidedly changed status quo. For example we might see a Peter Parker scientist, something that has not always been shown on screen, or we could discover new faces in the dual life of Spider-Man, perhaps with characters like Black Cat or Yuriko Watanabe.
On the other hand, there is the possibility that while Sony will continue to produce films on the Spiderverse, in the meantime our neighborhood Tom Holland could make some appearances within the ensemble films, perhaps devoting himself more to his career as Avengers, especially if New York will also be able to rely on new heroes such as a certain Miles Morales.
