After several years of legal battles, yesterday a law was passed in the United States to prohibit TikTok in this country, and the only way in which this social network will continue to be available in this country, will be if a company from our northern neighbor manages to buy the application. Thus, many have wondered what will happen to TikTok in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
While it is true that Mexico has attempted to ban TikTok, so far we have not seen any type of concrete effort to carry out this plan. However, Experts on the subject have pointed out that the ban on the social network in the United States could affect the rest of the continent.since Apple and Google will be forced to remove the application from their digital stores.
However, let's remember that stores vary by country, so while it is a possibility that TikTok disappears from the App Store and Google Play Store across the continent, this is not a guarantee. On the other hand, the possibility that the social network remains available in Mexico and the rest of Latin America is not ruled out. but I stopped receiving some kind of support and the updates stopped.
All of this is a possibility in the event that ByteDance, the owners of TikTok, fail to sell the application to a company in the United States. If this comes true, So the application will continue to work without any problem throughout the continent, but this is not as simple as many would expect.. On related topics, you can learn more about ByteDance's conditions for selling TikTok here. Likewise, TikTok will no longer pay its frequent users.
Author's Note:
TikTok is not likely to disappear from Mexico and the rest of Latin America unless each country chooses to follow the United States' path, something many have shown interest in doing. However, in the case of Mexico this is likely to happen, at least not in the election year.
