Call of Duty: Vanguard it could be the first chapter of a trilogy. Or at least that’s what writer Sam Maggs suggested in a recent interview, in which she states that they are essentially two more stories are ready for any sequels.
In an interview with VGC, Maggs explains that for Sledgehammer Games’ shooter, she and the other writers in charge of the script have set themselves the goal of making characters with the potential to become series icons.
“We started the writing work by saying “how do we make Call of Duty characters iconic?”, Because there aren’t any in the series at the moment. You know, when you think of a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of Call of Duty there are no prominent characters“, says the writer, adding that two more stories are ready for as many possible sequels to Call of Duty: Vanguard.
“And so we thought of something like “who could our main characters in Call of Duty be?”, Because we want to make Vanguard 2 and 3, we have two other stories we want to tell with these characters. So let’s hope, if people enjoy them as much as we do, we can continue to tell the stories of these people and make them sort of representations of this era of Call of Duty.“The words of Maggs are followed by the comment of the writer Tochi Onyebuchi, which substantially confirms the information shared by her colleague:”That information, for the record, is exclusive to Comic Con. We have never said this publicly before.”
Apart from the Modern Warfare trend, most Call of Duty have plots and characters that are unrelated to each other or have not too deep connections like Black Ops. Starting from this assumption, a possible Vanguard trilogy capable of expanding the stories of its protagonists could prove to be an interesting solution at least.
Call of Duty: Vanguard will be available starting November 5th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC. In the meantime, Activision is preparing to announce the details on the Zombies mode, with a first teaser that reveals the presence of demons.
